Homeschoolers are an independent lot! There are as many variations for homeschooling as there are homeschool families! And that’s a great thing! The beauty of homeschooling is individualizing education to meet the needs of the students and the family. The textbooks, curricula, field trips, testing, all of it are tools and slaves to the student, not the other way around!

I have been homeschooling high school now since 2004! I remember feeling so overwhelmed and scared at taking it all on! But I learned something that really takes the mystery of homeschooling high school down into a manageable nugget of truth –

The only real difference between homeschooling high school, and homeschooling in elementary and jr. high is … RECORD KEEPING!!! That’s essentially it.

Oh, of course, there are some things go keep in mind if your child wants to go to college and of course, you want to meet all of your state requirements. But other than that, for the homeschooling mom/administrator/guidance counselor/ chauffer/cook/ and head cheerleader, the biggest job is going to be keeping some kind of record and documenting it.

So this week, I’m going to cover how I have done homeschool high school, and how I’m continuing to do it this year with my 9th grader. Feel free to join me and Rosie as we give you a peek into our homeschool and see what we’re doing, and how we’re getting it done.
