Catching Up – What’s new in My Domestic Church, The Fall 2026 Edition

This is a season of change – some sad changes, some happy but big changes. Life changing.

Starting with a happy change – Rosie is engaged to be married. Her fiance proposed last week on their 3-year anniversary. She was thrilled and happy. The ring is beautiful and is just dazzling on her finger.

Perhaps some of you have been here since she was born. If so, it’s been a literal lifetime! And how that time has flown by!

On the sad side, one of my best friends in the whole world appears to be losing her fight with breast cancer. I was shocked and saddened. I just thought she would go on to the next chapter in her cancer fight, but this appears to be it.

I have so many emotions about this. And of course, my mother’s death from cancer and all of the experiences from that are flooding back.

I don’t want to lose my friend. I can’t picture life without her. I also don’t want her to suffer – she doesn’t deserve that. Mr. Pete and I did try twice to travel and see her in August. Both times just were not good days for her and she had to cancel. And now I’m afraid I may never see her again. But we have had some great phone conversations.

So my emotions are all over the place. Rosie is singing and dancing around the house, deeply in love and looking forward to the future. I swing that way when she is around.

But I know a new and different kind of grief will be coming soon. And I dread it with all my soul. And that puts a damper on things.

Changes from AI

I sort of noticed over the summer that my blog stats were low – like really low. It wasn’t because I did anything different. But it was mostly because of how AI has changed the way people use search engines and look for stuff. I have made a few changes, and updated a few blog posts, but it’s just another layer of stuff to do besides actually writing something.

I spoke to my son about it. He encouraged me to just keep blogging. He said people in his generation (young 30s) actually hate AI and would rather read something authentic.

So for now, I persist.
