1. I have executed an estate! Never wanted to, didn’t ask to, but now almost 10 months after my mother’s death I have met with lawyers, talked with insurance companies, retirement funds, and probate courts and lived to tell about it! With this week’s taxes filed and paid, I think I’m done!

2. I spent all Wednesday morning from 8 until noon doing math with my 8th grader. I think he finally, finally is starting to understand what functions to do and when to do them. Long time readers will remember that I had a hard time with math when I was in school too, so I can empathize with Gabe. But if I can master it, so can he!

3. I think I am getting my high school junior to understand that next year is it! and if he wants to hit the ground running after high school he has to do the hard work now. It’s not that he’s a bad kid or a bad student, it’s more that he is a “good enough” kind of student and he is capable of so much more. Good enough for this one, isn’t good enough.

Bonus success! Long-time readers might remember that I started Visits to Candyland to counter the anti-Catholic information that was being posted here. A reader left this nice comment over there:

Happy Easter to you Elena! Four years ago I discovered Candy. Two years ago I discovered you. Last night (Easter Vigil) I was received into full communion with the Catholic Church. It was a beautiful night and one I will remember forever.

Thanks to you and Kelly for clearing up any confusion there may be about what the Church believes, teaches, and proclaims.

Have a blessed Easter season!

It’s nice to know that we made a difference!
