TWA is in twitters, again, about this article, concerning the Catholic Church in Colorado that decided to publically bury the ashes of the aborted in their cemetery.

In brief, Dr. Hern had a contract with Crist Mortuary to cremate the remains and then they were supposed to be buried. Where? I’ve heard at the mortuary and I’ve also heard back at the medical center. The only thing that every article agreed on is that it was supposed to be without any ceremony of a religious nature. Dig, fill, cover.

Apparently an employee at the mortuary was disgusted with the remains received and decided to turn the ashes over to the church for burial and this has been going on for about 7 years until the Church decided to publicize a burial the day after this year’s Roe V Wade anniversary.

OK this is the part I don’t get, and no amount of “you’re , uncaring, arrogant, etc.” is going to clarify it for me.

If these women had abortions, left the remains there, didn’t think about them at all until this even came up, what is the big deal? I also don’t get the bit about loss of privacy. It seems to me that once you give your story to the paper to complain about the burials, you just breeched your own privacy – big time!!

I also don’t get the church. While I fully approve of giving these ashes the proper respect and burial, I don’t agree with the publicizing. What did that accomplish exactly? Now they won’t be getting the remains at all!! I think of the passage in Matthew about when you pray, go into your room, and don’t bring attention to yourself… BINGO. In my opinion that’s what the church there should have stuck to – quiet, dignified burial services.
