More about this special Feast Day

Pius XII was instrumental in establishing the Feast of Mary’s Queenship as a way of honoring Mary’s status as the mother of Jesus and thus the Queen Mother. On this feast day, we recognize Mary’s royal dignity and we give her honor just as Jesus did when He was working his ministry. The letter proclaiming this Feast Day was written in 1925, Ad coeli Reginam, promulgated on October 11, 1954.

Hence the revered Mother of God as Queen, she sits in splendor at the right hand of her Son, the immortal King of the Ages.

How to Celebrate!

In our home, we will bring the stars out and hang them from our chandelier.  These represent heaven, and they will surround our statue of Mary.

When the kids were younger, we made stars out of cardboard and aluminum foil. A couple of years ago though, Noah mentioned how much he disliked those stars. He thought they looked tacky.  So last year, I bought these on Amazon. Noah liked those much better.

Once the stars go up, they stay up until Ash Wednesday, adding a festive touch to the dining room through the fall and holiday season.
I hope to make the jello parfaits for tonight’s dinner as well for a “heavenly treat.”

Make a crown for Mary!

Decorate for all of the beautiful Marian Holidays.

I got these beautiful printables from Catholic Icing. They suggest cutting them out and then using tabs to glue them together. But I wanted something more durable so I got some inexpensive frames from Michaels and used decorator paper for the backdrop.
