Remember how I worried about getting a family portrait taken back in April? Well last night was the night. I am happy to report that all 6 of my children were able to be there, and that this time we were actually somewhat prepared! Now, we’re not “fancy” people. So the idea of all of the boys wearing a suit (which they don’t all have anyway) wasn’t going to work for us. So we went with casual. The guys wore dark knit shirts, some with collars, and I think one without. The girls and I wore denim dresses. And the effect was…surprisingly good! I think everyone was happy with how their images turned out. Even Rosie looks pleasant and content. It’s a great picture.

Mr. Pete, kept telling me that “we’re just getting the directory and the free 8×10 and then we’re outta here.” However, he liked the portrait so much that we ended up getting some for Christmas presents. I think that will be a nice gift particularly for my mom. And this might be the last time we are able to get a photograph of all of us together for quite a while. So I am happy.

In other good news, Sam’s organ teacher has asked him to apprentice with her! He will receive free lessons and in return will cover her for masses and other events. I told him that he is very fortunate to get such a deal! I hope she feels free to use him in other areas as needed – like making copies or whatever else she needs to have done. I know Sam wants to earn his way too.

I am buried under transcription coverage work right now but I am happy to be able to make hay while the sun is still shining! This will give me a little cushion. It is always during this time of year that I wonder how I manage to do full-time homeschooling an almost full-time medical transcription? and it makes me start to dread September! But this year I have been pretty good about keeping the kids to at least some of their lessons, so perhaps it won’t be too bad then. I know that I definitely need the rest and rejuvenation!

I’m hoping to get a blog post up this weekend about transcribing as as homeschooling mom and then another posting on How to Have a Domestic Church!

Oh, and if you wouldn’t mind, would you change my URL in your links? I’m now at www.mydomesticchurch.com. You just take out the blogspot part! Much obliged!!
