The report made a series of recommendations
to discourage the unnecessary use of Caesarean sections. They included legislation requiring all hospital to tell maternity patients their Caesarean rates and rate of vaginal birth after a previous Caesarean delivery.

Another recommendation would require obstetricians to attempt a ”trial by labor” to see if normal delivery would work before deciding to go ahead with surgery. Doctors should ”manage labor” to vaginal delivery. Except in emergencies, hospitals should require a second opinion prior to performance of a Caesarian and both government and private insurers should remove economic incentives for performing surgery by rembursing at the same rate for vaginal and Caesarean deliveries.

So I guess absurdly telling a new mom at her first prenatal visit that she probably won’t be able to push her baby out would be taboo?
