OK, since I outed myself as a General Hospital fan back in November when Laura returned to her Luke (albeit just during November sweeps), I might as well admit that I have been following the soap steadily since then. Sam keeps reminding me, “Mom, you said you were only going to watch as long as they kept Laura on!” Well, I did, but as ABC had hoped, I got reattached to the soap I grew up on.

Yes, I sat at my grandma’s knee, snipping beans, or playing with my dolls during the time of Steve and Audrey, Jesse and Phil, and the sixth floor nursing station! I remember when the Webbers and the Quartermaines were new. I remember when Leslie found out she had a daughter named Laura, and when Bobbie and Scotty were an item.

I told Sam it is his family heritage. His great-grandma watched it, his grandmother watches it, his mom watches it, and now him. He rolled his yes.

Anyway, I found this outspoken blogger at Serial Drama who seems to be writing a lot of what I have been thinking regarding the soaps lately, particularly GH, but also some of the stuff going on at the other ABC soaps. If you’re a soap addict, you might want to catch her latest on So You Want To Ruin Your Soap: A Guide to Alienating Viewers and Courting Cancellation. It’s a scream!
