My fellow Ohioan, TSO, blogged this a few days ago:

Video meliora, proboque; Deteriora sequor: “I’m tempted to get Deborah Larsen’s The Tulip and the Pope if only because I ought to try to understand why so many in their ’50s and ’60s seem so bitter towards the Church. I put my name in at the library for it.”

Well I might join you! I am absolutely fascinated with events and people that shaped the church just prior to and after my birth, so that I would miss out on all the really cool stuff about being a Catholic!! I feel cheated, I feel short changed and I always will. Luckily the tide is turning and many of us are trying to provide those things to our own children, but it’s not easy! So thanks for teh book tip TSO!
