Mary at the Ever-New Blog has written a wonderful piece on the importance of Catholic Blogging and Catholic Bloggers, complete with CCC quotes. It was just the ticket I needed today for inspiration.

Here’s an excerpt:

I think Steven would agree, though, that these answers are just the beginning. To take the answer a step further I’d like to suggest that the Holy Spirit has called us (Catholic bloggers) to form an online Catholic association or community for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God (Can. 215). We do not blog only because we must satisfy our own desire to write and discover something within but because Catholics must reach out and beyond ourselves. We must give whatever it is that God has given us to give. The worth of the gift itself is not that important. Jesus tells us that in the parable of the widow’s mite. What’s important is that we give that gift. We are called to lay ourselves at the feet of Jesus and allow him to use (or not to use) us for his purpose. When we surrender our gifts, our ideas, our skills to God we become holy. The Church teaches us the value and dignity of work because of what it does for our soul. Working for ourselves is a vain endeavor but work becomes a means of grace and holiness when we work for others, out of love for God – especially when it is difficult to do so.

Going on my blog roll Mary!
