Writing a letter to your confirmation candidate

It seems that one of the biggest events in confirmation preparation in this country is the letters of support to be given to the confirmation candidates during their mandatory retreats.

I have three such letters saved on this blog:

Confirmation letter to my daughterConfirmation letter to my fourth sonConfirmation letter to to my third son
I've asked my children what they remember about the letter they got from me and their dad, and also what they remembered about the letters they received.
The answer was not much, or at least nothing specific. In general they were happy to have gotten a bag full of letters and there was a sense of feeling loved and supported. I guess that's the main thing - for them to have a sense that this is an important step in their spiritual growth, and that people they know, love and respect have taken the time out of their lives to let them know that! So here are some tips on procuring and writing letters for young confirmation candidates. Start thinkin…

It's Frisbee time!
I am thinking...
about my busy month.  I have a speaker coming in to talk to my homeschool group on Wednesday and it's a toss up as to how many people will be coming.  I have a wedding rehearsal to do Friday night, a wedding Saturday morning, my boys will be at the Franciscan University Youth Conference, Monday is graduation!  And the hits keep coming.

I am thankful ...
for the Franciscan University Youth Conferences

From the learning rooms...
  • Izzy is drilling on her math facts before I put her into the next math book. More reading, some copy work, science and more planting!
  • Civil war part 2!
  • Finish up General Science
  • Finish up Rosetta Stone Latin
  • Sam spoke with his College Plus coach last week.  Frankly, he was a little embarrassed because he has not been putting in the time. His coach wants him to finish 100% of the Learning Network to solidify the science facts in his head and then TAKE THE STINKIN TEST!!!
From the kitchen...
Taco night.

I am wearing...
Black athletic pants, and a blue light weight T-shirt.

I am remembering:
Mama - always. Especially this month.

I am creating...
a nicer backyard. The kids and I spent an hour tonight weeding and if we do that everynight it will look great by mid summer!.  We have a mulberry tree!  We didn't plant it, but it has grown.  My grandpa use to call those, "volunteers."  I'm going to trim it back and feed it, encouraging it to bring forth more berries!

I am going...
to work out with my new kettlebell and t he Bob Harper Kettlebell workout.  That is killer! Planning that for Wednesday.  Tomorrow I am either going to do Complete Aerobics with weights or Firm: Calorie Killer .
I am reading...
Book 2 of the Quest for Happiness Series. It was one of my mother's books and is also required reading for the Our Lady of Victory curriculum.

I am hoping...
to be two more pounds down this week and to have a good part of the back yard in order.

I am hearing...
the buzz in my ears and the humm of my computer.
