1. Do you love my new template?!! It was designed by Michelle at Shabby Creations
who is a very patient lady and easy to work with! Her designs are very practical and affordable. I first discovered her over at Under her Starry Mantle. So if you are looking for something unique, beautiful, and affordable, check out Michelle’s designs.

2. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. It is quite possibly my last mother’s day with my mom. I feel so much sadness about that, like a great ball of heavy iron in my chest that barely lets me breath and makes it hard to move around. And yet mom seemed better by the end of this week. No more hallucinations, eating a bit more, and going to physical and occupational therapy. We have some hard decisions ahead though, but I can’t think about those today. This weekend, I just want to enjoy Mother’s Day.

3. I do not believe that Catholics are required to pursue every medical avenue available to them in order to stay alive. The church doesn’t teach that either. Still I think it’s important to remember that life is a gift; our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and as much as we are able, we need to protect that. Keeping that in mind, if chemotherapy will make mom’s life better, happier, healthier and maybe even a bit longer, I think we might opt for that. If not, then no. We just discovered palliative care through Visiting Nurse. It seems like a reasonable step for us to be in now as we aren’t quite ready for hospice. As for my own medical care, at this time with health insurance at a $5000 deductible, I do what’s necessary and try to take care of everything else on my own. I think that’s reasonable too.

4. The kids and I did some more nature journaling yesterday. We walked beside the little Cuyahoga River and the kids had their instant camera with them to take pictures and we amazingly saw two HUGE turtles sitting on a rock in them middle of the river. I had no idea that turtles in Ohio could get so big but these two were each bigger than a dinner platter! They were playing too if you can believe that turtles play. They would swim to the rock, lumber on and then let go and let the river take them away. It looked like playing to me!

5. We had a movie fest last night. We watched Marley and Me and Benjamen Button. I obviously had NEVER read what these movies were about. In Marley and Me, the couple suffer a miscarriage, and in the end their dog dies. And Benjamen Button focuses on the relationship between a dying mother and her daughter... sigh. At the end of the evening I was a mess. Rosie would cry when I cried. I don’t even think she knew what she was crying for. Mommy was crying – that was good enough for her.

6. I did a wedding last night. It was a lovely second marriage set at 6:00 in the evening. Because it was a smaller bridal party with no ushers, I ended up herding about 200 people into the church by myself – mostly in the last four minutes before the wedding. I was sweating by the time the bride went down the aisle!! and because it was a 6 p.m. wedding, people were literally straggling in all through the mass, so I stayed in the back to keep opening the door for them. One couple came just as the bride and groom were coming down the aisle. I told them to cheer up, they could be the first in the receiving line – they liked that!

7. Off to the playoffs at Saturday Soccer!
