Want to build a better blog? Several blogs had ideas about that recently including
Millionaire Mommy Ihelpyoublog.com and Problogger.

I get a lot of emails about books that I should read and am always a bit disappointed that my public library doesn’t have them. Apparently the purchasing department and the library does not share my eclectic tastes! So this on-line library sounds promising! It does for books what Netflix has done for movies! I might have to check this out!

Esther at A Catholic Mom in Hawaii blogs about her struggle with infertility and being open to God’s plan for their family.

God opened our hearts to adoption and with His guiding hand, we met our beloved son…the cutest little rascal in the world! We could not have chosen a better child as our own. It was all God’s work in play. We both realize that.

I finally got pregnant a few years into our marriage. But it was not meant to be and miscarried soon after. But I was now hopeful that becoming pregnant would just be a matter of time.

Again, we forgot to consult God about His plans.

It has now been almost 8 or 9 years since that day and we have one child on earth and one in Heaven.

It was not for lack of trying that our family is small. In our minds and heart, we know that is what God wanted for our family.

I know several families in the same situation of being open to God’s will for their family with the answer not always being what they thought it would be. God’s thoughts are not our thoughts. Esther also shares this this link to another Catholic family over on Exspectantes.

I was reminded not to judge by the visible number of children. Good Catholic families come in all sizes and “only” one, two or three children may be the visible sign of parents who have suffered.

Conversely, families with many children can struggle in their own ways with openness to life. Occasionally, mothers-of-many can, during difficult or overwhelming times, feel just as “closed” to life as those who don’t understand Catholic teachings on contraception. It seems a cruel irony that a woman with eight children yells at God for the latest positive pregnancy test on the same day that another woman blames Him for the loss of her baby.

It is not a cruel irony, but a holy one. Only the Lord knows exactly what we need — He is purifying each of us in His own way, allowing what He knows to be best, as we struggle to understand His movement in our lives.

Jen at Et Tu has a very good comprehensive article about vaccines and aborted fetal cells and the responsibility of Catholic parents. This one is worth bookmarking and even copying!

Can homemaking and homeschooling coexist? Well sorta.

This is an area where I struggle, because I really like things neat, tidy, and clean. But there are nine of us living here all day long, and so I have had to learn to give it up to a reasonable degree. What is reasonable? Well, sanitary and tidy tend to be my criteria, but as my dear friend Cheryl has told me before, a perfect home is not worth sacrificing the relationships we have with our children. Amen and amen again.
