I’ve been lurking on some of the teen blogs my son frequents. I think it’s important to stay on top of what he’s reading and looking at. Some of it is just mundane, some of it is funny. One girl linked to my son’s site and said her favorite word is m*****f***er, and indeed everyother word seems to be that one. Do they not teach vocabulary skills in the schools any more?

But this clip from one of the guy blogs I visited touched a memory:

I’m just a Little white boy that writes poems…and i guess the best way to discribe that is to say that i rip my own heart out and slap it on to paper

Well I can relate. It sure felt like that when I was a teen which is why I kept a diary!

That reminded me of a poem I found in a magazine when I was in high school. I think it was Seventeen Magazine or Young Miss. But it made an impression and I remember it to this day.

The womb which is my mind
miscarried my tiny fragile love for him
and now it lies unbaptized
with all of the others
in the grave yard of my soul!

Oh the angst of adolescence!
