Writing a letter to your confirmation candidate

It seems that one of the biggest events in confirmation preparation in this country is the letters of support to be given to the confirmation candidates during their mandatory retreats.

I have three such letters saved on this blog:

Confirmation letter to my daughterConfirmation letter to my fourth sonConfirmation letter to to my third son
I've asked my children what they remember about the letter they got from me and their dad, and also what they remembered about the letters they received.
The answer was not much, or at least nothing specific. In general they were happy to have gotten a bag full of letters and there was a sense of feeling loved and supported. I guess that's the main thing - for them to have a sense that this is an important step in their spiritual growth, and that people they know, love and respect have taken the time out of their lives to let them know that! So here are some tips on procuring and writing letters for young confirmation candidates. Start thinkin…

Outside my window...
Remember the tree  I planted back in June? It's ready for Christmas!

I am thinking...
Of course, we do live in the inner city and I have seen trees where the the tops have been sawed off so that someone could have a small, FREE Christmas tree!  So we are keeping a vigilant watch.  We have also surrounded it with four Rebar poles.

I am thankful for...
that this week is a much slower week and I can get my grounding back to celebrate Christmas.

From the learning rooms...
We are taking this week off!  making cookies, sending cards, wrapping presents, and trying to stay home.  I need the break as much as the kids do.

From the kitchen...
Tonight's O-Antiphon is key lime pie for Key of David.  The kids (big and small) are really enjoying this.

I am wearing...
My work out clothes because I actually got a chance to workout this morning.
The Firm Body Sculpting System, Fat Blasting Cardio with Lisa Kay the workout I love to hate!

I am creating...
probably three dozen more toll house chocolate chip cookies!  I got cute boxes for them yesterday  at Michel's.

I am going...
to start wrapping my stash of presents.  I did most of my shopping online or at tag sales this year.  I only bought two things at an actual store and I am very proud of myself for that!

I am also going down to the post office to mail my Christmas cards!

I am reading...
a whole box of Christmas books to Rosie!  One a night.

I am hoping...
also to get out to the cemetery to put lights out at the baby's grave and mom's niche. I also applied for a job of sorts doing Catholic research - keeping my fingers crossed for that one!

I am hearing...
Not much. Kids are still asleep.

Around the house...
I am going to tackle the classroom and Mt. Everest- the Laundry.  Seems I always do a lot of laundry between Christmas and New Years.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

  • House cleaned
  • Get to confession
  • Wrap gifts
  • Make cookies
  • Keep up with my transcription.

  1. Congrats on your shopping achievement - well done! Have a very Merry Christmas with your family.

  2. I pray that you get that job. And happy laundering day - same to me. Sigh...seems like life revolves around laundry - washing, folding, and delivering to the right drawers. :-)

    Merry Christmas.
