Outside my window
It looks like it is supposed to be cold, but it is surprisingly, unseasonably warm outside. Mr. Pete just took me out for a bagel and I didn’t even wear a jacket.

I am thinking…
about SLO’s surgery and everything we’ve been through in the past couple of days. First of all SLO is amazing! After her double mastectomy on Friday night she was in a lot of pain but she was up the next morning and she figured since she could get up, she could go home. And she did! Not even 24 hours from the start of her procedure. I was very impressed. The next day she even washed her own hair. I think she is going to recover just fine from the sheer determination to do so.

Waiting in the waiting room wasn’t bad at all. Dick turned out to be a very funny guy, talks more than I do, and we bonded pretty quickly. He literally was the life of the party. Bill and Bob didn’t say much but everyone got along fine because we all shared a common interest – SLO

I am also very impressed with Slo’s kids who are amazing young women and men and were great advocates and caregivers for their mom. What a great support system.

I am thankful for…
all of my family and friends near and far who helped us through the past week and will be there in the weeks and months to come.

From the learning rooms
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe with Noah and Gabe this week. Sam continues on  a study of the King Arthur and Christ next week.

From the kitchen…
Cheesy chicken and rice – and a 28 pound turkey in my freezer that is about to be taken down and put into the sink. .

I am wearing…
Black sweat pants and a green sweater I treated myself too.

I am creating…
Thanksgiving dinner – the bulk of which will be cooked at my house and then transported over to SLO’s.  It feels like what a catering business must be like – thinking of everything that needs to happen so that we don’t forget anything.

I am going…
to be playing my flute a lot more in the next few weeks. Had a rehearsal last night that went fairly well.

I am reading…
Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book:4th Edition 2005
The Divine Office for Dodos: A Step-By-Step Guide to Praying the Liturgy of the Hours

I am hoping…
Donny Osmond wins Dancing with the Stars!

I am hearing…
buzzing in my ears – again.

Around the house…

Kids sleeping, and some kids rustling around.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
1. Walk or exercise tape every day.
2. Finish inventory on my Mom’s estate for the attorney – ugh – why do I keep putting this off!
3.  Visit the doctor with my loved one.
