Writing a letter to your confirmation candidate

It seems that one of the biggest events in confirmation preparation in this country is the letters of support to be given to the confirmation candidates during their mandatory retreats.

I have three such letters saved on this blog:

Confirmation letter to my daughterConfirmation letter to my fourth sonConfirmation letter to to my third son
I've asked my children what they remember about the letter they got from me and their dad, and also what they remembered about the letters they received.
The answer was not much, or at least nothing specific. In general they were happy to have gotten a bag full of letters and there was a sense of feeling loved and supported. I guess that's the main thing - for them to have a sense that this is an important step in their spiritual growth, and that people they know, love and respect have taken the time out of their lives to let them know that! So here are some tips on procuring and writing letters for young confirmation candidates. Start thinkin…

I am thinking...
If you ever want to see how far American Culture has fallen, watch ABC's the Bachelor.

This season, The Bachelor is a self-confessed virgin, and it's painfully obvious that he's the exception to the way things are in young America.

But what's worse is the way some of the ladies on the show are bragging about their sexual experiences.

Lucy and Desi had to sleep in twin beds 60 years ago, Now everyone sleeps with everyone else, and we televise it. Sad really.

I am thankful...
I grew up when I did.

I am pondering...

Starting Rosie's high school transcript this year so that I can be prepared for her Freshman year this fall.

One of my Favorite Things...

In the kitchen...
It's going to be a weird kitchen week. I'm having oral surgery on Tuesday, so I doubt I'll be eating much. I'm hoping my daughters and Mr. Pete will pick up the slack a little to nourish themselves!

I am wearing...
Black pants with a purple sweatshirt. It's actually cold around here!

I am going...
  • Arms and abs this week while I wait for the arrival of my new elliptical. I guess that's going to be my go-to aerobic activity for a while.
  • PrayMoreNovenas.com  the rosary more this month.
  • to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations and Intermittent Fasting.
  • Working on the "lose the mummy tummy" goal. I'll be documenting that more in a special e-mail list. If you'd like to follow the ups and downs of that, click here.
  • More flute practice this week getting ready for the 7 Last Words of Christ.
  • Prepare my labs for Wednesday for my science class.  I am providing all the materials for experiments, but I have a guest teacher since I am having oral surgery the day before.  If you want to see my Youtube Channel or syllabus for Physical Science sign up for my e-mail list.
  • Getting a knee plan from my doctor after he speaks to his surgeon friend... ugh.

Miss C.
Five In A Row

This might be a good book to introduce the subject of slavery to young children. Miss C. was unfamiliar with that and I explained little bits as we read the book.

Since this book is also about stars and constellations, we spent some time going over this book too!
