Writing a letter to your confirmation candidate

It seems that one of the biggest events in confirmation preparation in this country is the letters of support to be given to the confirmation candidates during their mandatory retreats.

I have three such letters saved on this blog:

I've asked my children what they remember about the letter they got from me and their dad, and also what they remembered about the letters they received. 
The answer was not much, or at least nothing specific. In general they were happy to have gotten a bag full of letters and there was a sense of feeling loved and supported. I guess that's the main thing - for them to have a sense that this is an important step in their spiritual growth, and that people they know, love and respect have taken the time out of their lives to let them know that! 1) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

2) I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.

3) He conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary.

4) He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell (the grave).

5) On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

6) He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

7) I believe in the Holy Ghost,

8) the holy Catholic Church,

9) the communion of saints,

10)the forgiveness of sins

11)the resurrection of the body,

12) and life everlasting
