Pre-Holiday Links and Resources -Advent 2018 and Christmas

With Thanksgiving this week, Advent is following quickly behind it!

But besides the busy preparation for Christmas, there are a lot of things we can do to really observe the season of Advent! Over the years I have collected links and resources for the holidays that I thought would help me and my family prepare our hearts and spirits to celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus.  I haven't done everything on this list.  Some of it is a wish list, but there was something in every link that I thought was worthwhile.

Perhaps first on the list is actually getting our homes ready for the holidays:

and get your planner ready~  Advent and Christmas Planner from Catholic Icing or Advent Planner from Wildflower and Marbles.

Thinking of Spring! With a new spring wreath from Commercial Palm

Lavender Twig Wreath

Last weekend I finally put the Christmas things away. No more Christmas tree, no more nativity scene, and no more Christmas wreaths. Everything is tidly boxed and stored away until next winter.

The place looked almost dreary without all of the Christmas decorations and the sparkling lights. The weeks of constant arctic temperatures outside haven't helped the tone and atmosphere around here much either! I needed to do something to make my home feel cozy and welcoming again.

Two things have seemed to help.  First, as soon as I had the holiday items safely stowed, I started a little pre-spring cleaning. With just a little heavy dusting and vacuuming I started feeling better about the atmosphere in my home. We live in a 1928 bungalow-styled home, with a lot of dark wood and a stone fireplace. Just to polish the woodwork and clean the glass on the doors and windows helped to bring back some of the sparkle.

Something else helped too. A few weeks before Christmas, I received two beautiful Lavender Twig Wreath from

Disclosure: I received the Lavender Twig Wreath from for review. I was not required to post a positive review and this is my own opinion of that product.

They arrived very quickly just before the holidays. They were well packaged and were free from any damage. I thought they were beautiful as soon as I saw them! When I hung one of them in my living room, I felt it was just what it needed to add the hint of spring that surely must be coming our way in the weeks ahead!

I think these wreaths are well made and quite beautiful. I'm very happy to be able to hang them in my home.
