Outside my window...
Rosie Cross Country Hudson 2017 047

I am thinking...
about how I almost made it to the very end of summer without my dog getting fleas - but those last very hot days did her in and she has a small infestation going. Not bad, but enough to maker her stop and scratch all day long. I am trying to avoid a trip to the vet which will inevitably cost me around $200 for everything and am trying an apple cider spray directly on her coat to see if that will help. I will also probably pick up some Revolution for the cat at the pet store to keep her flea free.

I am thankful...
that Noah got to meet up with some old high school running friends at the All Ohio Cross Country Meet last Friday.

I am pondering...
Jill Filipovic's latest posting on Hugh Hefner.  I'm even more floored that her piece was published on the Time Magazine Site. We agree on very little, but we do agree on this - Hefner did not love women, not in any real sense. He loved what they represented and what they did for him or to him, but real intimacy eluded him.

One of my Favorite Things...

Noah competing against one of his friends from high school who now runs for a different team.

I am hearing...
tinnitus, the computer hum, and lunch being made by my daughters downstairs.

In the kitchen...
We have a lot of left overs I hope to use up this week.

I am wearing...
Gray Skort and gray 3/4 length sleeve T shirt also gray.
I am going...
  • to walk or work out every day with Pfilates
  • add some additional novenas next year with the help of
  • to cut my carbs via the Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan recommendations and intermittent fasting.
  • Preparing my general science lesson for Wednesday and I am stumped! I would like to be able to show movies to my class but I am not sure if I want to really invest in a lap top and projector.
  • Get all the scraping done at the flip house because Miss C. will not be allowed to spend the night with her father until it's all scraped and apparently painted as well. Mr. Pete got the kitchen up and running though! I'm so sick of scraping!!
  • Taking izzy to work three times this week!  She got a job at a local craft store which is right up her ally and is enjoying it!
  • I am going to get into this dress for my concert in April. I ordered it back in August because one of the reviewers said she bought it after she had a baby and even though she weighed 210 pounds, it looked great on her. She was also my height, so I figured, if she liked it, maybe it would look good on me too. It didn't. But it might if I persist in my diet (low-carb and intermittent fasting). If  you want to see an intermittent fasting success story- check out Jimmy Akin's site.

I'm going to be sharing a weight loss story later this week - maybe.

I am reading...
I am finishing up the triology on  Audible .

I have the Audible  app on my phone as I walk the trails during cross country practice or work on the flip house scraping paint.

A quote to share...
When I was desperately looking for ways to help Calvin learn to read, the Writer's Jungle by Bravewriter's Julie Bogart was a source of great inspiration to me. This fall, I'm going to be sharing some of my favorite parts that really helped me teach my kids to write - from the absolute most recalcitrant writer, to the kid who has prose and poetry just dripping out of her!

The Writer's Jungle

If a child is asked to generalize,
that is, to write an essay upon
some abstract theme, a double
wrong is done him. He is
brought up before a stone wall
by being asked to do what is
impossible to him, and that is
discouraging. But a worse moral
injury happens to him in that,
having no thought of his own to
offer on the subject, he puts
together such tags of commonplace
thought as have come in
his way and offers the whole as
his ‘composition,’ an effort
which puts a strain upon his
conscience while it piques his
