The sweet little mum I nurtured all summer!

I am thinking…
about anything but politics.  I’m done. Eight years of the Obama administration and then this contentious election – I’m just ready to focus on other things, like the rest of Izzy’s senior year of high school.

I am thankful…
that we had such a nice warm fall.  We went from 71 degrees on Friday to snow and 38 degrees on Saturday -it was kind of shocking.

I am pondering…
the road race Rosie ran on Saturday.  We decided to have her run some extra 5 Ks this fall and winter so that she could build her self-confidence and learn strategy. She’s a natural runner with good technique and endurance.  However, success in racing is also mental and psychological and you can only really make gains in that area by racing and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. This is where experience really helps and Rosie needs more of that, especially now that she will be running 2 mile and distance (although probably shorter distances during track season).

She ran a delightful 5K this weekend called, Race Between the Lakes.  The people running the race were very helpful and super nice and the event just had an atmosphere to it – it’s hard to explain, but it was like a hometown feeling.  I guess you are going to get a certain type of runner to an event in late fall to run in low tempartures anyway, but these folks were just very festive about it so it was a lot of fun for Rosie and a lot of fun for me and Mr. Pete too!

Everyone got a participation medal, but they also had some neat prizes for the champions.  This was my favorite – a fish vase for the overall male and female champions.

Rosie was 23 over all, 8th woman, 24:21. Very hilly 5K course but a gorgeous view!
Age group first place. 23rd overall, 8th woman. 24 minutes 21 seconds 5k on a hilly but scenic course at 38 degrees!
This was her prize- not sure what it is – I think it’s a candle holder.

I am hearing…
Mr. Pete and Noah laughing in the kitchen, and Miss C and Izzy playing in Rosie’s room.

In the kitchen…
We had a great scramble today after church with onions, bacon  and peppers.  Delicious!

I am wearing…
Velvet pants, multicolored top and grey hoodie.

I am going…

One of my favorite things…

We went to the zoo on Friday when it was  nice out.  Miss C. loves feeding the goats!
