I am thinking…
Rosie ran in the CYO championship. It was a great day weather wise and she was off to a wonderful start.  But since it was a championship, the competition was very stiff and you could feel the extra excitement in the air. I saw her team mate come around the corner and I knew Rosie would be close behind, but there were several girls between them.  Still Rosie was giving it her all and I could tell by her stride and the look on her face that she was running full throttle – she was giving it her all and there weren’t any more gears to shift into.

CYO only gives medals for the first 10 places.  I wasn’t sure if Rosie was going to get that and neither was she. We kept waiting for the results to get posted. And waited. And waited.  Rosie was teary eyed and I knew that she was close to crying but I told her that if indeed she was 11th place – that wouldn’t be the end of the world. It just meant that she had a new goal for next year.

But in my heart I was thinking how sad it would be for this girl – who was in the top 10 every week but one, to not make it into the top 10 this week.

So I said to one of the officials at the tent, “If my little girl came in 11th or 12, I’m going to have some major consoling to do.  Can you just take a peek and let me know where she placed?”

The official took pity on me and looked it up.

She indeed made 10th place, out of 72 runners. It was a good day.

I am pondering...
The disconnect in the minds of some Catholic parents between their Catholic faith vs. real life, and how is the best way to approach that – and how to avoid it in my own life.

I am going…

  • to walk or work out every day with Pfilates.  Trying to get back some weight work out as well.
  • to see the podiatrist this week, hopefully for the last or close to the last time!
  • run our cross country end -of-season-party!

A quote to share…

“People are less and less serious about building a solid and fruitful relationship of love: in sickness and in health, for better and for worse, in good times and in bad. Love which is lasting, faithful, conscientious, stable and fruitful is increasingly looked down upon, viewed as a quaint relic of the past. It would seem that the most advanced societies are the very ones which have the lowest birth-rates and the highest percentages of abortion, divorce, suicide, and social and environmental pollution”

Ladies, take a look around today. Those guys wearing their Browns gear on a Monday…that’s your guy. He’s gotta be loyal AF to still be here on a 2015 Monday. He’s shown that you can move away and come back 3 years later and he was right there waiting. You can literally never do anything but break his heart and he’ll love you just the same. You can embarrass him every day of the week and twice on Sunday and you KNOW he’s still gonna be your biggest fan cheering you on. He’s a believer. A sad, stupid, lovable, loyal, believer. Every girl should be so lucky to date a Browns fan.

This is the bouquet from my daughter-in-law’s wedding. Her mom asked all of us to donate a brooch of some sort with a story or sentiment behind it.  I didn’t really examine her bouquet on the wedding day, so it is so nice to see it in pictures!
