Writing a letter to your confirmation candidate

It seems that one of the biggest events in confirmation preparation in this country is the letters of support to be given to the confirmation candidates during their mandatory retreats.

I have three such letters saved on this blog:

Confirmation letter to my daughterConfirmation letter to my fourth sonConfirmation letter to to my third son
I've asked my children what they remember about the letter they got from me and their dad, and also what they remembered about the letters they received.
The answer was not much, or at least nothing specific. In general they were happy to have gotten a bag full of letters and there was a sense of feeling loved and supported. I guess that's the main thing - for them to have a sense that this is an important step in their spiritual growth, and that people they know, love and respect have taken the time out of their lives to let them know that! So here are some tips on procuring and writing letters for young confirmation candidates. Start thinkin…

Outside my window...

View from my kitchen window
  ...it's almost done!

I am thinking...

about conscientiously dropping sugar from my diet this year as well to spur even more weight loss - remembering that I have to wear a mother-of-the-groom dress in a few months.

I am thankful...
for the chance to work with Noah, Izzy and Rosie as I finish up the last years of homeschooling.

I am Pondering...

what my podiatrist will say to me tomorrow.  I have had two toenail laser treatments, and although I think my nails look better, they aren't perfect.  I'm wondering what he will say about them. I'm also thinking maybe dropping sugar from my diet might affect nail growth as well?

In the kitchen...
Made Blender Bread today from Danielle Walker's Joyful!

I am wearing...
Black pants, black and pink shaped fleece!

I am going...
  • to walk or work out every day but Thursday.
  • to an auction on Wednesday to see if we can get a new place for Mr. Pete to run his business.

One of my favorite things...

Eating with her godfather, Noah.
My 16-year-old feeding tomato soup to his 1-year-old goddaughter.

I am hoping to ...
  • Get lots of flute practice done.
  • Organizing my closet.

I am looking forward to...

Don’t be ridiculous. Martha Stewart isn’t a demon. She’s a witch. Nobody could do that much decoupage without calling on the powers of darkness.Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

  1. I would love to give up the sugar as well but just can't seem to stop!! I think it would help with your nail growth though, it affects so much. I love that you have such a musical family :) Have a wonderful week :)

  2. Thanks Penny, you too!

I think giving up sugar might be harder than giving up grains! It's in everything - even things you wouldn't suspect! I think if I can at least cut down it might do some good.

    Thanks for dropping by!
