Preparing for Pentecost
The Feast of Pentecost is upon us this Sunday! A time to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit to the church.
Here is the Pentecost Novena - in pdf here. If you're like me and life has gotten in the way of starting this 9 days ago, remember that a novena can be 9 of anything - including hours, or minutes. Even reflecting on the prayers of this novena will be helpful in preparing for the actual day.
In my domestic church, we put the lace table cloths of Easter away and time to break out the red ones!
Here's a craft we did a few years ago that is still a big hit.
By a clear bowl at the craft store, fill it with water and floating candles. This is a picture of the first bowl I purchased - note the curved sides - that turned out to be a really bad idea as the heat from the candles cracked it during dinner and water went everywhere!
Then we searched holy cards and the internet to make sure each one of the apostles was accounted for, as well as Mary.
We trimmed them and glued them to the glass bowl and then went over the entire thing with Mod Podge!
Straight sided bowel worked much better!
Here are the saints with the water and the candles.
The idea is that the floating candles are like the tongues of fire that hung over the apostles head at Pentecost.
