Fall is here!

I am thinking…
about the personal repercussions if Romney does not win the White house next month. I have my parents’ property to sell.  Some of it has been on the market for eight months and we’ve dropped the price by quite a bit.  We had one nibble on it from a hunter who wanted a rent-to-buy agreement, but when he came to check it out, he said there was not enough evidence of deer activity. I wondered where I could go to get a bag of deer poo to sprinkle around the acreage but thought that might be a tad dishonest, not to mention time consuming and disgusting.

If Romney wins, I expect this piece to sell.  If not… I don’t know what.  I certainly don’t want to continue to pay property taxes on it.  I might just consider letting it go back to the state for taxes.

I am thankful that…
this is an election year!

From the kitchen…
Turkey dinner tomorrow!

I am wearing…
Black pants and white sweat shirt – amazed that last week at this time I was wearing a skort and a T-shirt!

I am creating…
the final touches on my classroom today and coming up with a schedule.

I am going…
to plan a party for the cross country team for Sunday.  I’m supposed to play a concert too with the music group I am in, but I’ve decided that I only want to do one big thing per day.  I really am tired of trying to squeeze a lot of things into one day instead of just enjoying life’s little events.

I am reading…
Finishing the Scarlet Letter with Gabe and Noah and Philadelphia Catholic with Izzy – both difficult reads!

I am hearing…
some problems with Gabriel.  Last week he threw up at his soccer game and he has had a cough for going on three weeks. He doesn’t eat anything I make and he sneaks up after we have gone to bed.  I am, frankly, concerned about him. I am also concerned with Sam who is working part time, doing College Plus part time and being with his girlfriend full time.  I know he is going to look back on this time of his life and wonder what the heck he was thinking.  Just hope I’ll be alive long enough to see it!

… and I miss talking this over with my own mom.

Today a mom I know wrote an e-mail asking for prayers because her baby wasn’t gaining enough weight. She sounded concerned and maybe a bit scared.  I’ve been there and I totally get it.

But looking back, those little worries when the baby was tiny is nothing compared to the problems of older teens on the verge of adulthood making stupid decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.

I’m gonna take my own advice- the same thing I told this mom, “This too shall pass!”
