  1. Understanding the Chinese culture is difficult.
When we were there a tape recorder was stolen from am American on a train. The train was stopped and searched. The item was found. My husband watched with the young American woman as the person was taken out to the field by the train and...shot.
As US citizens it is difficult to comprehend this type of black and white brutality. Never gray for the common man. It is difficult for some to see one person getting money and then not immediately "sharing" it. My heart goes out to the family. It goes out to the country that would rather abort the next child instead of having one more in a family. My heart goes out to the family who loses a child- knowing that they probably will never be allowed to have another.
I feel very blessed to be an UScitizen.
