Outside my window
Beautiful summer like weather.  Oh how I wish it could stay this way for the rest of the year!
A day in October 016

I am thinking…
about this quote from Mother Theresa that has been all over Facebook this weekend:

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.” — Mother Teresa

I am thankful …
for the family God has given me.

From the learning rooms
Noah finished his  Rosetta Stone Latin 1.  Now it’s up to Gabe to finish up so I can load Rosetta Stone Latin 2 on a new computer.

Noah and Gabe are also working on Early Church History course from Homeschool Connections.  They still don’t like it!

We watched movies last week on Jamestown, the Salem Witch Trials and a PBS special on American Cemetaries that was very nice.

Sam finished his pre-Calc course and got an A-.  (Ahem – Linds!! Take note)

Izzy and I are reading and doing copy work through the Little House in the Big Woods and this week we are going to make corncob dolls.  She is doing well in her Saxon Math.

Noah and Gabe are reading Huckleberry Finn.

From the kitchen…
Grilled barbecue chicken while I still can!

I am wearing…
Blue shorts and a green T.

I am creating…
another busy week.
It also looks as if I am going to be organizing the cross country pizza party.  No one else was doing it. I sent out a few e-mails to get it going and looks like I’ll be doing it.   After planning Sam’s graduation, this will be a piece of cake hopefully!

I am going…
to try to work some extra prayer time into my days.  Praying for:

  • Calvin as he navigates these waters of early adulthood – with some successes but also some troubling turbulance in his spiritual life.
  • Gabe – who informed me he wants to be a drummer and that’s all he wants to do.
  • Noah who is preparing for confirmation.
  • Izzy – who told me she wants to take a dance class with kids her own age so that she can make friends and have fun.
  • Rosie- who has no fear – and that scares me.
  • Mr. Pete – who is always working.

I am reading…
a number of things right now.

Unfortunately, I got hooked on the AMC series, Breaking Bad and have been catching up on Netflix.  Great series, but probably not the best use of my time.

I am hoping…
to make it through my last Friday night wedding!   no more weddings until December 17 – when I have two in one day!

Also hoping to walk tonight and then start back on my exercise tapes this week.

I am looking forward to…
finishing Huck Finn with the boys.

Around the house…
getting my  clean classroom in order and organizing the very very last of Mom’s books.

I did notice last week that I had a lot more energy and was getting a lot done and it occurred to me that my thoughts of mom on her deathbed gasping for air are starting to fade. I haven’t woken up with that image for a while.  Maybe I am almost through the grief process.

Pictures I am sharing:
Sam could not take his girl to her homecoming dance because he had been scheduled to work at the pizza shop.  So his brother backed him up and took her instead.  Gabe – the backup boyfriend!
