Outside my window

Not too hot and not too cold – just right!

I am thinking…
about an opportunity I have to start playing with a community orchestra – and whether or not I want to make the committment. Part of me thinks no, I’m busy enough.  But the other part of me remembers that homeschooling does not last forever, and I should start preparing for life after the last child leaves now.  Luckily, my youngest just started 1st grade – but still I should think about it.
I am thankful …
for my son Noah, who does whatever I ask him to do without too much fuss!
From the learning rooms
Preparing for homeschooling next week with the Organized Mom Superset I bought a few years ago – still a great tool! I have also been listening to the Ultimate Homeschool Back to School Blast on my MP3 player as I walk 3 miles waiting fot cross country to be over with.  I have been re-inspired and have learned a lot too!

Years ago, when I first started homeschooling, I was inspired by the The Prairie Primer: Literature Based Unit Studies Utilizing the “Little House” Series.  I thought how wonderful it would be to go through the Little House books and learn about homesteading and sewing and making butter and all of those kinds of things.  But after having four little boys, I put that to the back of my mind.  A few weeks ago I saw the Primer again and I ordered it.  It’s for grades 3-6 and Rosie and Izzy aregrades 1 and 7! but if I ease back on some things and make other things a bit more challenging I think it will work for us!  We’ll see.

Today was kind of a crappy first day – I had to stop school early to get Rosetta Stone up and running again.  Hopefully with a new headset and the right settings, we won’t have a problem tomorrow.

From the kitchen…
BBQ chicken and mashed potatoes – because I like them even if everyone else is tired of them!
I am wearing…
Black running pants and a white shirt, with a big mark in the middle of my stomach where Rosie gave me a hug and rubbed her dirty little face into my shirt!

I am creating…
some plans for next week. I want to get into a rhythm of exercise and prayer before homeschooling this week.

I am going…
to try to add exercise videos back into my exercise mix.
I am reading…

Abe Lincoln Grows Up

I am hoping…
to get some rest tonight.
I am looking forward to…
getting back on an even schedule with home schooling.  Today did not go quite so well.
One of my favorite things…
PinterestIt’s not as “useful” per se as Diigo or Delicious, but it is certainly beautiful and even restful. I enjoy just wandering through it!
