Small Successes

1. I think I am finally learning to listen. My mother has not been eating and not wanting to move out of bed. I heard her but I wasn’t really listening. Because I want her to eat. I want her to get out of bed, go to the bathroom, go to the dining room, and move into assisted living so that she can have her life back, and so that I can have my Mom back. But after doing more reading on the topic, I’ve started to see that maybe Mama knows best for herself and her body. She doesn’t eat because her body doesn’t need the nourishment. She doesn’t move because she is starting to go into herself preparing for death. Probably one of my biggest successes this week has been just coming to terms with that reality.

2. Calvin left on vacation with his girlfriend and her family for ten days. And I didn’t cry, I didn’t try to passive/aggressively keep him home. I gave him a hug, told him to be safe, and have fun. Huge for me, because I’m not really wild about him morphing into this other family like this. But I guess this is part of letting him grow up. He is missing my birthday though. My BIG birthday…and Rosie’s 4th birthday! Trying not to be sad about that as well. sniff…

3. So to end on an upbeat – I applied to be part of the Blogher network back in October of 2008 and I FINALLY got accepted and got my code. I’m really quite happy about it. Cecily, Barbara Curtis, and Heather inspired me to try for it. So I am hopeful for a long and fruitful relationship with them.

I’d also like to thank all of you who have bought things from Amazon through My Domestic Church. You guys bought more than $500 worth of stuff!! and I made a little money from that too. Thanks so much!
