I’ve been meaning to do a substantive bit of blogging all week but just never had the time! I am an experiencing a “watch what you pray for” type of week.

I have had a hard time getting enough work to keep me busy and help pay for the kid’s activities and some of our bills for a while now. (Some of you may remember my Paypepost experience!) In December it seemed God saw my needs and sent a rheumatologist my way to transcribe his medical reports. This was perfect as one of the companies I transcribe for was really slow in December. But in January the rheumatologist decided he didn’t like digital transcription, or something. He didn’t actually ever let us me or my boss why he stopped. So I was without enough work once more.

This week the largest company I transcribe for gave me TWO NEW ACCOUNTS!! There has been work for me every time I have gone to look for some and I am very pleased and relieved! And as this is the end of the pay period I am definitely going to try to work as much as possible today!

Lent has been pretty good for us so far as I have been able to do most of the readings with the kids and we have even done some family rosaries. Tonight I want to get to stations at 7:30. We did manage to watch the Song of Bernadette yesterday in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes which was celebrated on Monday. I forgot what a wonderful movie that is! The kids couldn’t sit through all of it, but they got the gist of how much ridicule and doubt Bernadette faced for being open and honest about her experiences in the grotto at Lourdes. I hope to do more movies like that during Lent.

For Calvin it has been a bittersweet time. He did not make it into districts. He’s not the kind of kid to cry or anything like that, but I could see the hurt in his eyes. For him and his swimming career, he has run out of “next years.” Another senior on the team didn’t make it either and the young man has decided enough is enough and has just quit practicing. Calvin wants to compete in the very last swim meet later this month so he has continued to go to practice, but I know it is hard to see the others really training when he won’t be competing. His focus now has to be on finishing high school.

The kids and I are preparing for the medieval feast next week! Rosie will be going with us as well and I have costumes for all of us. Noah will be the bishop (because he can say the sign of the cross in Latin!)

Precana went VERY well. It was my best precana experience ever. One of the girls came over and gave me a hug afterwards and that has NEVER happened before. This week I give the same speech to the RCIA class, although I have to add more about Natural Family Planning. As these people will not all be newlyweds and may even be married as long as I have, it will take me a few minutes to figure out how to gauge my talk. Prayers would be appreciated for that one!

So onward with another busy day for this second Friday in Lent!
