Today is one of my favorite days of the whole year – my neighborhood children, God bless em, went back to school!! No more pounding on my back door, no more tramping through the house with dirty shoes, no more drinking through gallons of Cool Aid in what use to be my back yard!! With just my six children it is positively peaceful!!

And yet, even though I am not starting our formal education until after Labor Day, as required by law, we did notify our school district by today’s deadline. As dictated by Ohio law, Mr. Pete took our annual notice of intent in along with the four written narrative assessments from our portfolio reviewer.

We had the receptionist sign a receipt that we did in fact turn those items in which she was happy to do. Apparently we weren’t the only ones.

And so it begins. We will start slowly tomorrow with a return to music lessons and history for Sam. The other kids will start with bible lessons and also a group read of Farmer Boy. I’ll have more on that later.

I’m also getting my class room in tip top shape so I can take pictures to enter in the Lives of Loveliness this week. It feels good to start out fresh and clean anyway.

By next week with a clean house, records in order, and this article from HSLDA readily available, we should be good to go!
