One of the non-Catholic blogs I follow is Marla Swaffer, formerly known as the Proverbial Wife. She had an essay contest on her blog over the past month. The prize was to sit on a new be part of a new blog called Intellectuelle.

That piqued my interest when it was first announced. I liked the idea of Christian women blogging together as a team. The men certainly do a good job of it! But in very short order it became clear that Catholic or Orthodox women need not apply. The contest was for (in Mrs. Swaffer’s words)”Protestants who read the Bible as the inspired infallible Word of God–generally not mainline denominations (at least not in these parts). Reformed is even better, but I’m not going to make it that narrow.”

One could argue that by cutting off the contest to two main branches of Christianity and then allowing only a sliver of Protestants, it was pretty narrow already, but I digress.

Entries came in. Some of them were pretty good. Here’s a list of the entry essays.
