Father Lovasik and the Passion

Yes, I know Father Lovasik has been in heaven for a number of years now! But after viewing The Passion Father Lovasik's Treasury of Prayer has new meaning for me. It made Father's words in prayer more powerful. See what you think

Jesus Crucified

O God, for the redemption of the world You willed to be born among men, circumcised, rejected by the Jews, betrayed by the traitor Judas with a kiss, bound with cords, led like an innocent lamb to slaughter, shamelessly exposed to the gaze of Annas, Caiphas, Pilate and Herod, accused by false witnesses, tormented by scourges and insults, spit upon, crowned with thorns, struck with blows and with a a reed, blindfolded, stripped of Your garments, nailed to the Cross, lifted on the Cross, numbered among thieves, given gall and vinegar to drink and wounded with a spear.

Lord, by these your most holy sufferings upon which I, an unworthy sinner meditate adn by Your holy Cross and Death, deliver me from the pains of hell and be pleased to take me where you took the penitent thief who was crucified with You. Who with the Father and Holy Spirit live and reign one God, forever. Amen

My divine Savior, what did You become when for love of souls you allowed Yourself to be bound to the pillar? How truly the word of the Prophet was fulfilled that from head to foot You would be all one wound so as not to be any longer recognized! What shame You felt when they stripped You of Your garments! What torments You endured when struck by countless blows! How profusely did Your Precious Blood gush forth from your veins?

I know well it was not so much the injustice of the Roman governor and the cruelty of the soldiers that scourged You as my sins. O accursed sins, that have caused You so much pain! What hardness of heart I showed when I continued to offend You in spite of Your great suffering.

But from this day forth it shall be so no longer. United to You forever by bonds o loyalty, I shall try to make atonement to Your offended justice as long as I live. By the pains You suffered when bound to the pillar, by the scourges which tore Your innocent Flesh, by the Blood which You shed so profusely, have mercy on this unhappy soul of mine. Deliver me today and always from the snares of the devil. And when I have come to the end of my exile, bring me safely home to heaven with You.
